Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Restoration Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for leading the development of restoration and floodplain management projects, working closely with our multidisciplinary team of ecologists, landscape architects, engineers, and scientists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of restoration and floodplain management projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and client needs.
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
  • Prepare design plans, construction specifications, and construction cost estimates.
  • Manage design tasks through design completion and construction.
  • Prepare proposals and develop scopes of work and budgets for design work.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Requirements
  • 15+ years of professional experience in concept development and design of stream and river restoration and floodplain management projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering, or master's degree in civil or environmental engineering if undergraduate degree was not in engineering.
  • Current professional engineer (PE) license in Washington or Oregon, or ability to readily obtain one via comity application based on licensure in another US state.
  • Familiarity with Washington State (e.g., SEPA, HPA, Shoreline) permitting requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in civil engineering or environmental science with an emphasis on aquatic ecosystems restoration, hydraulics, and/or geomorphology.
  • Experience as a project manager of floodplain and restoration design or planning projects.
  • Fish passage analysis and design experience with roadway culverts.
  • Construction management and inspection experience.
  • Experience with hydrologic analysis and modeling techniques.
  • Hydraulic modeling experience (one- and two-dimensional).
  • Permit application experience in Western states (e.g., state and federal permits for in-water work, local agency permits for grading, erosion control, etc.).
  • Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD and ArcGIS.
  • Experience with field data collection and related equipment.
