Role Summary
U.S. Bank is in search of a Lead Mainframe Automation Specialist with significant expertise in mainframe automation technologies. This role requires a proactive individual who is eager to contribute to the advancement of our mainframe technology projects. The successful candidate will collaborate within a team setting to support various systems in a highly resilient and sophisticated mainframe environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain OPS/MVS REXX rules, SSM tables, and related programs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve automation-related issues.
- Partner with infrastructure, application, and operations teams to address their automation requirements.
- Provide assistance during z/OS upgrades.
- Engage in disaster recovery testing and recovery processes.
- Collaborate with vendors for system support and issue resolution.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call support rotation as part of the team.
- Acquire knowledge of new automation technologies, including Python, Groovy/Java, and Jenkins Pipelines.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 5 years in a comprehensive IT environment.
- At least 10 years of experience in the design, development, and support of technology infrastructure.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- In-depth knowledge of Mainframe technologies.
- Proven ability in technical troubleshooting of OPS/MVS issues, complex z/OS Sysplex environments, and automating mainframe tasks across various settings.
- Expertise in REXX Programming, OPS/MVS, IPL and shutdown processes, subsystems such as CICS, IMS, JES2, MQ, and DB2, HMC operations, and JCL.
- Familiarity with BMC products.
