Job Title: Controls Engineer

Summit Engineered Automation is seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer to join our Automation Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and building automation and robotic equipment that meets the highest standards of quality and efficiency.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop automation control systems using Allen Bradley, Keyence, and Epson platforms
  • Program software for unique projects with a variety of needs (PLC, HMI/SCADA, Servo, Robotics, Vision, etc.)
  • Collaborate with Mechanical Design Engineers, Electrical Engineers, customers, and vendors to ensure successful project execution
  • Develop and implement machine vision systems, including camera and lensing specification, lighting setup, and integration with machine automation
  • Research and implement new developments and innovations in electrical design and automation control
  • Test and verify all electrical wiring and systems, debug and test software, and assist in acceptance testing and documentation
  • Provide training and support to customers and internal teams

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience in electrical control system design and programming for custom automation
  • Strong knowledge of PLC and HMI controls, servo motion, vision inspection, and robotics
  • Proficiency in electrical schematic design using AutoCAD Electrical and Solid Works

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Allen Bradley CompactLogix, PanelView Plus, and Keyence vision systems
  • Knowledge of robotics and vision guided motion
  • Ability to travel to customer sites for start-up and training
