Position Summary

We are in search of a dedicated Fund Accountant to join our team. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles and reporting, coupled with robust general ledger expertise, analytical capabilities, and interpersonal skills. The Fund Accountant will oversee the complete accounting cycle, from data entry to general ledger closure and reconciliation.

This position offers a hybrid work model, requiring in-office presence at least four days a week. Alumni Ventures promotes a fast-paced, professional, and entrepreneurial atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily accounting tasks for assigned fund series
  • Execute month-end reconciliations and manage bank account closures as necessary
  • Perform fund analysis and generate reports for strategic decision-making
  • Collaborate with external tax consultants for annual K-1 tax processes
  • Propose enhancements to streamline daily operations and improve financial reporting
  • Assist in the preparation of routine and ad-hoc financial statements for management
  • Address inquiries promptly and resolve accounting discrepancies
  • Engage with investor relations, investment teams, legal, corporate accounting, and executive management on fund-related matters
  • Collect pertinent investment documentation
  • Acquire knowledge of investment capital structures to aid in recording portfolio company valuations
  • Collaborate with the Fund Accounting team on time-sensitive projects and initiatives aligned with the company’s objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Management
  • Two to four years of relevant accounting experience
  • Intermediate accounting proficiency with strong analytical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Able to work collaboratively in a team setting and willing to learn across all accounting domains
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with both internal staff and external partners.

Compensation: $85,000-$90,000, plus equity and bonus opportunities.
