Position Overview

The Clinical Psychologist plays a vital role in assessing, diagnosing, and treating various mental and emotional challenges, as well as behavioral issues linked to physical and mental health. This position is essential in promoting healthy behaviors, preventing illnesses, and enhancing the overall quality of life for patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct standardized psychological assessments, interpret findings, and create detailed reports for patients and relevant community organizations.
  • Perform thorough psychosocial evaluations of patients and their families to identify emotional, social, and environmental strengths and challenges related to their health conditions.
  • Design, implement, and manage a comprehensive therapeutic treatment strategy utilizing suitable clinical interventions, which may include crisis management, individual therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, and group therapy.
  • Provide immediate therapeutic crisis intervention and emergency support as necessary.
  • Engage in clinical team discussions to present patient histories and collaborate with both internal and external therapy team members to formulate thorough evaluations and develop effective therapy programs tailored to each patient.
  • Maintain detailed case records for each patient, documenting the nature of social issues and the services provided or recommended.
  • Offer consultative support to healthcare team members within the defined scope of care as required.
  • Document assessments, treatment plans, interactions, and interventions in accordance with established guidelines and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements and maintain accurate records and statistics as mandated.
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of patient-centered medical home status as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • CPR Certification.
  • A Doctorate in Psychology with a focus on clinical practice, along with professional licensure in Iowa and a minimum of three years of experience in a healthcare or social services environment.
