About the Position

The University of Iowa is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Psychologist to join our team at the University Counseling Service. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing psychological services to support the academic, personal, and professional growth of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Counseling Services: Offer individual, group, and couples counseling to students, as well as crisis intervention and case management.
  • Supervise and Train: Supervise and train graduate students in the mental health professions, providing guidance and support to help them develop their clinical skills.
  • Develop and Implement Programs: Design and deliver psycho-educational outreach programs and consultation services to students, staff, and faculty, promoting mental health and well-being.
  • Collaborate with University Units: Work closely with various university departments to develop and implement programs that support student success and well-being.
  • Stay Current with Best Practices: Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in mental health counseling, incorporating evidence-based approaches into your work.
Requirements
  • Doctoral Degree: Possess a doctoral degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APA-Accredited program.
  • Licensure: Hold a valid State of Iowa license as a psychologist, with the ability to maintain licensure as a condition of continued employment.
  • Experience: Bring extensive experience in mental health counseling, crisis management, and program development, with a strong background in evidence-based practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Post-Graduate Experience: Possess relevant post-degree clinical work experience, preferably in a university counseling center setting.
  • Specialized Skills: Demonstrate expertise in areas such as couples counseling, suicide prevention, and brief psychoeducational group interventions.
