Immediate Supervisor's Title: Superintendent, E/I/Controls

Objective:
  • Deliver engineering insights to diagnose issues and implement enhancements to mill electrical and control systems.
  • Formulate project scope, estimate expenditures, engineer, procure, and install new machinery or adjust existing setups.
  • Provide technical assistance to maintenance and operations teams for optimal equipment functionality.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee assigned projects, define scope, estimate costs, and select equipment while adhering to budgetary constraints and timelines.
  • Support maintenance and operations in utilizing new machinery and existing electrical distribution and process control systems.
  • Direct contractors and consultants to ensure safe installation of new machinery and modifications while maintaining financial and scheduling parameters.
Leadership and Collaboration: Make informed decisions regarding instrumentation, electrical apparatus, and contractors within established management frameworks.

Innovation and Problem Solving: Efficiently address installation challenges using available resources
  • Provide examples of issues encountered and the duration taken to resolve them.
Business Impact: Affect operational budgets through cost-saving measures and product enhancements, as well as through equipment acquisitions.

Technical Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is mandatory.
  • Familiarity with paper and pulp industry processes is essential.
  • Strong communication skills to articulate ideas effectively.
  • Comprehensive understanding of process and electrical control systems and instrumentation.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs, MCCs, and VFDs is preferred.
  • Commitment to mentoring others to enhance effectiveness within Domtar.
