Job Title: Electrical Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Transportation Technologies team in Plymouth, Michigan. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for performing electrical testing and evaluation on various products to ensure compliance with U.S., Canadian, and international product safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct on-site and off-site evaluations of products to determine compliance with applicable standards
  • Read and interpret national codes and standards, client-provided or published performance or product safety standards, and schematics and manufacturing instructions
  • Validate project scope and sample applicability, identify and locate test instruments and equipment required for testing, and follow established test plans
  • Set up and operate equipment under test, perform and document simple repairs, conduct thorough construction reviews, and document results
  • Perform testing of products in accordance with standards, including battery cycling, vibration, temperature/humidity soak or cycle, durability cycling, voltage and current measurement, dielectric, pressure, abnormal and fault condition simulation, rain, dust, and corrosion
  • Mentor less senior technical personnel, supply information for quotes, and provide specialized expertise in one product category
  • Develop and set up test plans, use hand tools to build/calibrate test fixtures, follow sample handling procedures, and communicate project status and test results to clients, sales personnel, and management
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • 2+ years directly related experience, with prior project management experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with Automotive (SAE, OEM specific), or International (ANSI, MIL, IEC, ISO) performance and environmental simulation test standards, and/or U.S., Canadian, and other International product safety standards
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions, interpret technical instructions, and make technical decisions and engineering judgments independently within established parameters
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills and self-motivation
  • Microsoft Office expertise and ability to travel as business needs dictate
