Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a critical role in assisting our clinical providers with patient care, including patient work-ups, diagnostic testing procedures, and administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians with patient care by conducting interviews, recording chief complaints, and documenting medical and surgical history.
  • Perform diagnostic testing procedures, including visual acuity, visual field testing, tonometry, refractions, and fundus photography.
  • Support a safe patient care environment by maintaining equipment, cleaning used instruments, and sending them for sterilization.
  • Effectively manage patient flow, directing physicians to the next patient to ensure timely care.
  • Communicate with patients and families regarding follow-up care, surgeries, and procedures.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least one year of ophthalmic technician experience required.
  • Intermediate proficiency in ophthalmic technician work-ups and diagnostic testing equipment required.
  • Advanced knowledge of eye anatomy, physiology, and pathology required.
