Ophthalmic Care Specialist

Job Summary:The Ophthalmic Technician I plays a critical role in providing direct care to patients, ranging from infants to the elderly. This position requires a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a team environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for completing patient medical and ocular history, documenting medications, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care delivery.
Responsibilities:- Conduct thorough medical and ocular history on all patients
- Complete chief complaint and allergies documentation
- Administer health screening questions, including falls, abuse, and depression screening
- Document all medications for patients
- Prepare and complete surgical, procedure, and pre-cert insurance forms as required
- Schedule MRI's and retrieve reports as necessary
- Collaborate with pharmacies to ensure accurate prescription fulfillment
- Perform duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures
- CPR certification from the American Heart Association (Preferred)
- COA, COT, or COMT certifications (Preferred)
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)
- Associate's degree (Preferred)
- Effective teamwork, cooperation, coordination, and collaboration
- Ability to safely and effectively utilize equipment
- Ability to follow required protocols
- Ability to multitask and respond to emergency situations
- Experience in a healthcare environment
- Understanding of Joint Commission and Department of Health processes
- Regulatory compliance knowledge
- Maintenance of life safety competencies
- Knowledge of safety and emergency procedures
