Special Education Teacher

Gwinnett County Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and passionate Aut-Severe Level I Teacher to join our team. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality education to students with disabilities.
Job Summary:The Aut-Severe Level I Teacher will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating instructional programs for students with Aut-Severe Level I needs. This includes developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), providing direct instruction, and collaborating with general education teachers to ensure a comprehensive education for all students.
Responsibilities:- Develop and implement IEPs for students with Aut-Severe Level I needs, including setting academic and functional goals.
- Provide direct instruction to students in small group or one-on-one settings, using evidence-based instructional strategies and materials.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure a comprehensive education for all students, including developing and implementing co-taught lessons and providing support to general education teachers as needed.
- Assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed to ensure students meet their IEP goals.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to keep them informed of their child's progress and involve them in the IEP process.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in special education and to improve instructional skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
- Georgia certification in Special Education (Aut-Severe Level I).
- Experience working with students with Aut-Severe Level I needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with general education teachers and other support staff.
The Aut-Severe Level I Teacher will work in a school setting, with frequent interactions with students, teachers, and other support staff. The position requires the ability to lift, bend, and move equipment and materials as needed.
