About the Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Fellow to join our team at The Brookings Institution. As a Research Fellow, you will have the opportunity to work on a range of economic, health, and social policy issues, and contribute to the development of innovative policy recommendations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and policy analysis on economic, health, and social policy issues
  • Draft materials and working papers, blogs, and other publications
  • Verify statistical calculations, literature searches, and computer work
  • Assist senior scholars with project management and coordination
Quantitative Analysis, Programming, and Statistical Support

You will work jointly with senior scholars to prepare and revise programming code, simulation macros, database files, and regression estimates. You will also analyze data using statistical packages and spreadsheets, and assemble, consolidate, and check data from new sources.

Research Assistance

In collaboration with senior research staff, you will draft material summarizing research results on specific topics, and provide analytical reviews and summaries of existing literature pertinent to the projects. You will also locate and collect relevant documents and data from sources such as electronic databases, libraries, and government publications.

Project Support, Communications, and Outreach

You will update web pages in support of the scholars' area of interest, write and edit summaries to be posted on pages relating to scholar's work, and gather related bibliographic, link, and current event information in support of pages to be created for a scholar's topic area.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Mathematics/Statistics, Public Policy, or other Social Sciences with a minor in Economics
  • Research experience in economics, policy research, and/or computer modeling preferred but not required
  • Strong computer skills and experience required, with experience handling large data sets and models preferred
