Financial Accounting and Reporting Intern

**About the Role**
Alaska Airlines is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Financial Accounting and Reporting Intern to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will assist in the preparation of financial reports, analyze financial data, and perform general ledger account reconciliations.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Prepare month-end journal entries and variance analysis of income statement accounts
- Perform monthly general ledger account reconciliations to identify, investigate and conclude on variances
- Assist in the preparation of internal and external reports, such as monthly accounting packages and SEC filings
- Special projects: Fixed Assets, DOT reporting, Internal statistics database
**Requirements**
- Microsoft Office skills (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), with an emphasis on Excel skills
- Self-starter with natural curiosity to understand general business practices as well as airline-specific practices
- Technical knowledge of accounting procedures
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program and have at least one semester or quarter of school remaining after the internship
- Must have achieved a junior or higher academic standing at the time of application
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum age of 18
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
**Preferred Qualifications**
- Working knowledge of US GAAP
