The Chief Executive Officer serves as the primary representative and advocate for Habitat for Humanity, The Heart of Wyoming.

This role is responsible for steering the organization, overseeing fundraising initiatives, managing operations, and ensuring financial integrity in alignment with the policies and directives set forth by the Board of Directors.

The CEO champions the overall vision, health, and expansion of Habitat for Humanity, The Heart of Wyoming, guiding the organization in achieving its mission.

This position is integral to the organization and requires a consistent presence and active engagement within the community.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Organizational Leadership: Direct the staff overseeing all organizational functions, including construction, volunteer coordination, program services, mortgage management, property selection, community outreach, marketing, and administrative tasks.

Collaborate with the Board of Directors and staff to develop strategic plans for programs, organization, and finances.

Assist the Board in making critical decisions and refining organizational policies and procedures.

Establish and nurture effective relationships with governmental and non-governmental agencies essential for program success.

Ensure compliance with all necessary official records and documentation in accordance with federal, state, local, and organizational regulations.

Stay informed about significant developments and trends within Natrona County and the broader Habitat for Humanity network.

Assess potential properties and facilitate their acquisition with support from staff, the Board, and the Real Estate Development Committee.


Fundraising and Resource Development:

Implement an annual resource development strategy.

Design and execute the organization’s annual fundraising initiatives, including event planning, promotional materials, donor outreach, and stewardship at all levels of giving.

Oversee the submission of grant applications and associated reporting.

Lead efforts to secure in-kind donations at both local and national levels.


Management:

Foster an environment that attracts, retains, and motivates a diverse team of professionals.

Develop job descriptions, conduct regular performance assessments, and implement effective human resources practices.

Encourage and facilitate professional development opportunities for team members.


Financial Oversight:

Establish and maintain sound financial practices.

Prepare an annual budget with input from staff, contractors, the Finance Committee, and the Board of Directors.

Manage the organization’s operations to fulfill its mission within budgetary constraints.


WORK ENVIRONMENT AND SCHEDULE

Standard working hours are typically 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, with variations based on organizational needs. Flexible scheduling and occasional remote work may be permitted. Some evening and weekend commitments may be necessary.


PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS

This role requires the ability to work in an office setting as well as engage with staff and volunteers on undeveloped properties and construction sites, which may involve:

  • Traveling to various locations on short notice.
  • Navigating undeveloped properties and construction sites, including stairs, ladders, and uneven terrain.
  • Occasional exposure to loud noises and extreme weather conditions.

Management, fundraising, and property development responsibilities entail inherent mental demands such as deadline pressures, prioritizing competing tasks, and engaging with clients or employees facing challenging situations.


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Annual salary range of $65,000 to $80,000, commensurate with experience.

SIMPLE IRA with a matching contribution of up to 3% of the employee's annual compensation.

18 days of Paid Time Off per year (increasing with tenure).

15 paid holidays annually.


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications: A minimum of three years of experience in a non-profit environment, ideally in a role that involves engagement with supporters (e.g., executive director, volunteer coordinator, development specialist, fundraising, or similar roles).

Preferred Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field, along with experience as a non-profit employee or executive director.
