Operations Manager for Aviation Training Programs

Job Overview:

Vertex Solutions Group LLC is seeking an experienced Operations Manager with a background in Military Instructor Pilot roles, particularly with T-6 or similar aircraft. The ideal candidate will possess at least 5 years of project management experience within the Department of Defense (DoD) and demonstrate strong leadership capabilities in personnel management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations at NAS Corpus Christi, ensuring effective support for a multifaceted project involving numerous on-site personnel.
  • Manage the implementation and operation of Virtual Reality (VR) Training Devices tailored to meet U.S. Navy flight training needs.
  • Coordinate logistics and requirements with government entities for installations within designated areas.
  • Maintain and nurture customer relationships, ensuring expectations are met and exceeded.
  • Collaborate with the Human Resources team to recruit and onboard necessary staff.
  • Guide project personnel to ensure timely progress and adherence to budgetary constraints, promptly informing management of any deviations.
  • Develop and sustain a comprehensive risk management document along with a corresponding mitigation strategy.
  • Establish a systematic approach for collecting and coordinating student feedback with government stakeholders and Vertex developers.
  • Organize and participate in progress meetings with government representatives, site managers, and Vertex senior leadership, taking appropriate actions as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with other site leads to uphold a robust quality assurance program and standardization across the initiative.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to contractors, partners, and government agencies to resolve issues and ensure satisfaction.
  • Create and disseminate status reports to both internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing projects or programs within or for the DoD.
  • Proficient in MS Project, MS Word, and MS Excel.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field is advantageous.
  • Experience with VR simulation-based training is a plus.
  • Prior experience as a DoD Instructor Pilot or with DoD aircraft is beneficial.

Work Environment:

This position is primarily office-based, with occasional travel (5% - 10%) anticipated for visits to other training locations and conferences.

Physical Requirements:

Employees must be able to perform essential functions, which may include prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and the ability to lift up to ten pounds as necessary.
