Business Intelligence and Analytical Developer

Responsibilities
  • Liaise with business, technology, and support teams to ensure business requirements are met.
  • Translate business needs to design, develop, and maintain production reports and dashboards.
  • Acquire data from a variety of structured and unstructured data sources.
  • Design and develop business data models to support self-service BI and analytics.
  • Develop and maintain ETL/ELT processes.
  • Write queries to retrieve data using Microsoft SQL or leveraging Microsoft Fabric to get data.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation.
  • Define test plans and execute test cases to ensure BI content processes meet quality assurance standards.
  • Ensure BI content follows and meets PCL's data governance and security policies.
  • Manage the implementation, roll out, and direct support of production reports and dashboards.
  • Deliver presentations/training to the business on created production reports and dashboards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in computer science (or equivalent education).
  • The candidate has 3+ years of design and development experience in business intelligence, data management, and data modeling.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with data visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI is required.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with ETL/ELT development.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling and relational database design (DAX Expression) and implementation techniques.
  • Experience in UI/UX development as it applies to dashboard and report design considered an asset.
  • Excellent problem-solving and data-analysis skills.
  • Strong with Microsoft office suite of tools - Microsoft Fabric and SQL Server/ T - SQL knowledge is preferred.
  • Experience in the complete software development lifecycle (SDLC) including requirements analysis, design, development, QA, maintenance, and CI/CD and version control tools considered an asset.
  • Effective communication and writing skills necessary to effectively lead technical discussions and information-gathering sessions.
