We are seeking a highly skilled Health Information Specialist II to join our team at Family Health Centers of San Diego. As a key member of our Health Information Management department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of patient records.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare patient charts for upcoming visits, reviewing for open orders, incomplete documentation, and follow-up for ER/ED visits, open referrals, and addition of pending results.
- Coordinate the release of medical information, following all department and regulatory guidelines, verifying authorizations, and communicating with requestors.
- Provide exceptional customer service, answering phone calls, greeting visitors, taking messages, and routing faxes.
- Review medical records for accuracy and completeness, participating in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and data abstraction as assigned.
- Produce accurate and precise work in a fast-paced and high-volume environment, adapting to sudden changes in priority work demand.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Medical Terminology Course required or complete within the 90-day orientation period.
- Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
- RHIA or RHIT Certification preferred.
