Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is currently seeking an Industrial Engineer (Level 2) or a Principal Industrial Engineer (Level 3) to become a vital member of our diverse and skilled team.


The Industrial Engineering Division plays a crucial role in our daily operations, frequently collaborating with various departments.

This team is dedicated to learning, teamwork, and tackling challenges in a dynamic environment. We are looking for candidates who thrive on collaboration and are eager to contribute meaningfully.

Key Responsibilities:
Formulate and execute strategies that guarantee the timely availability and efficient use of labor, facilities, equipment, and tooling resources to meet program delivery and cost objectives.

Conduct analyses related to cost management, cost reduction, inventory oversight, and production tracking systems.

Create optimized scheduling tools and synchronize SAP/MRP systems with actionable plans, considering various capacity limitations.

Based on analytical findings, devise and implement strategies for facility enhancements and adjustments to operational methods.

Assist facility engineers in the planning and design of manufacturing spaces as needed.

Provide capacity planning, shop-loading, and staffing assessments for production teams.

Evaluate existing operational workflows and develop metrics and reporting systems to enhance program and operational efficiency.


May be required to support multiple product lines and manufacturing areas, as well as assist various programs or production managers.

Conduct process simulations as required.


Implement manufacturing methodologies (Lean, 5S, AGILE, 5 Whys, Ishikawa Diagrams, Standard Work, Kaizen, Visual Management, etc.) through teaching, demonstration, and effective communication.


Basic Qualifications for Industrial Engineer (Level 2):
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with 2 or more years of experience in engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing, or data analysis; OR a Master's degree with no prior experience in the field.

Proficiency in data mining, analysis, or visualization software applications.

Capability to obtain and maintain DOD Security Clearance and special program access.

Basic Qualifications for Industrial Engineer (Level 3):
Bachelor's degree with 5 or more years of experience in engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing, or data analysis; OR a Master's degree with 3 or more years of relevant experience; OR a PhD with no prior experience in the field.

Proficiency in data mining, analysis, or visualization software applications.

Capability to obtain and maintain DOD Security Clearance and special program access.

Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) preferred.

Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing context.

At least 2 years of demonstrated experience leading project teams.

Experience in maintaining and developing SharePoint sites.

Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS).

Familiarity with SQL, VBA, or other programming languages.

Experience enhancing manufacturing workflows through optimization, modeling, simulation methods, or discrete event simulation.

Experience with agile project management methodologies.

Strong experience in designing visualizations using Tableau in a professional setting.

Salary Range:
$79,300 - $118,900

Salary Range 2:
$97,500 - $146,300


The above salary range serves as a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers various factors when determining base salary offers, including the scope and responsibilities of the position, as well as the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
