WSP is actively seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to enhance our team.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate field observations and specialized inspections during subsurface investigations in soil and rock.
- Lead geotechnical engineering design and analysis for various structures including bridges, buildings, tunnels, and retaining walls with minimal oversight from senior staff.
- Draft and prepare geotechnical memoranda, data reports, and design documentation.
- Coordinate field observations and special inspections of geotechnical construction activities.
- Act as a task leader in the preparation of reports and contract documents.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers, reviewing and checking their work.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and project stakeholders.
- Assist in the development and coordination of geotechnical projects in New England and surrounding regions.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Geotechnical or Tunneling Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5 to 7 years of relevant professional experience.
- In-depth knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles and familiarity with related fields (Structures, Civil, Environmental, and/or Planning).
- Understanding of applicable codes and standards.
- Experience in the design and construction of highway, bridge, building, and underground projects.
- Proficient in developing contract documents.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Adaptable to various schedules to meet business requirements and capable of prioritizing tasks in a changing work environment.
- Proficient in technical writing and familiar with design software (e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GeoSlope, Plaxis, and others).
- Willingness to travel and perform fieldwork as needed.
- Must successfully complete WSP's Motor Vehicle screening.
- Demonstrated ethical decision-making regarding company resources and adherence to WSP's Code of Conduct.
- Proven commitment to workplace safety and compliance with health, safety, and drug/alcohol policies.
- Master's Degree in Geotechnical or Tunneling Engineering.
- US Professional Engineer registration or intent to obtain in the near future.
- Experience managing small to mid-sized projects.
- Completion of 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) preferred.
- Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training is a plus.
