WSP is actively seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to enhance our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and coordinate field observations and specialized inspections during subsurface investigations in soil and rock.
  • Lead geotechnical engineering design and analysis for various structures including bridges, buildings, tunnels, and retaining walls with minimal oversight from senior staff.
  • Draft and prepare geotechnical memoranda, data reports, and design documentation.
  • Coordinate field observations and special inspections of geotechnical construction activities.
  • Act as a task leader in the preparation of reports and contract documents.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers, reviewing and checking their work.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and project stakeholders.
  • Assist in the development and coordination of geotechnical projects in New England and surrounding regions.
Qualifications

Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Geotechnical or Tunneling Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant professional experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles and familiarity with related fields (Structures, Civil, Environmental, and/or Planning).
  • Understanding of applicable codes and standards.
  • Experience in the design and construction of highway, bridge, building, and underground projects.
  • Proficient in developing contract documents.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Adaptable to various schedules to meet business requirements and capable of prioritizing tasks in a changing work environment.
  • Proficient in technical writing and familiar with design software (e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GeoSlope, Plaxis, and others).
  • Willingness to travel and perform fieldwork as needed.
  • Must successfully complete WSP's Motor Vehicle screening.
  • Demonstrated ethical decision-making regarding company resources and adherence to WSP's Code of Conduct.
  • Proven commitment to workplace safety and compliance with health, safety, and drug/alcohol policies.
Preferred Skills
  • Master's Degree in Geotechnical or Tunneling Engineering.
  • US Professional Engineer registration or intent to obtain in the near future.
  • Experience managing small to mid-sized projects.
  • Completion of 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) preferred.
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training is a plus.
