Wellstar Health System is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for the Neuro Med/Surg unit. This is a full-time night position.

Position Summary

The RN Clinical Nurse plays a vital role within a collaborative team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers, ensuring that patients and their families receive personalized, high-quality, and safe care. This role operates within a clinical framework led by Nurse Managers and supported by the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The practice is guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, emphasizing evidence-based practices and research.

All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and adhere to the nursing standards as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, implementing the Scope of Practice and the Code of Ethics established by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, the RN is expected to advocate for the patient’s voice while upholding system policies and striving for service excellence.

  • Conducts the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) in clinical care, utilizing evidence-based practices and critical thinking to ensure individualized care and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Delivers patient-centered care that respects diverse population characteristics (age, gender, health conditions) and adapts service delivery to acknowledge cultural diversity.
  • Engages patients and their significant others in care planning through effective communication methods, ensuring their goals are central to the care plan.
  • Adheres to current clinical practice standards.
Teamwork and Collaboration
  • Coordinates safe and quality patient care delivery, promoting a professional care model through effective interdisciplinary communication and timely documentation.
  • Demonstrates teamwork by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner, contributing to the recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.
  • Participates in performance improvement initiatives, supporting research and evidence-based practices to enhance patient care quality.
Professional Development and Initiative
  • Completes all required professional competency assessments and mandatory education.
  • Acts as a preceptor and mentor for other nursing professionals, fostering a qualified workforce and a healthy work environment.
Evidence-Based Practice and Research
  • Promotes evidence-based nursing practices and participates in research activities, contributing to decision-making processes regarding patient care products.
  • Adheres to all healthcare system policies and clinical competencies, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
  • Engages in data collection and formulates relevant clinical questions to advance evidence-based practices.
Resources and Support
  • Proactively plans for patient care across the continuum while providing direct care.
  • Contributes to the development of protocols and procedures to achieve best practice outcomes.
  • Supports the efficient use of human and material resources.
Required Minimum Education

Associate's Degree in Nursing or graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred.

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s)

All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated:
  • Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN - Multi-state Compact
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Instructor
Required Minimum Experience

A minimum of 2 years of direct patient care nursing experience is required.

Required Minimum Skills

Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English; ability to utilize technology in clinical care; basic computer skills; strong interpersonal and collaborative skills; ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies with composure; excellent time management and critical thinking skills.
