Wellstar Health System is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for the Neuro Med/Surg unit. This is a full-time night position.

Position Summary

The RN Clinical Nurse plays a vital role within an interdisciplinary team, comprising both licensed and unlicensed caregivers, to deliver personalized, high-quality, and safe patient care. This role operates within a clinical setting overseen by Nurse Managers and supported by the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The practice framework is guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, along with evidence-based practices and research. RN competencies are aligned with these models and reinforced by the Wellstar Values.

All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and adhere to the nursing practice standards as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, implementing the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics established by the American Nurses Association. As part of the patient services team, the individual is responsible for advocating for the patient’s voice while adhering to system policies and supporting service excellence goals.

Exemplary Practice and Outcomes
  • Conducts the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) in clinical care, utilizing evidence-based practices and critical thinking to ensure individualized care and effective partnerships for optimal patient outcomes.
  • Delivers relationship-centered, patient-focused care that considers population-specific characteristics (e.g., age, gender, health conditions) and adapts service delivery to respect cultural diversity.
  • Engages with patients and their significant others through appropriate communication methods (e.g., bedside shift report, interdisciplinary rounds) to ensure their goals are central to the care plan.
  • Practices in accordance with current clinical standards.
Teamwork and Collaboration
  • Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care that aligns with the professional care delivery model, including diverse interdisciplinary communication methods and timely documentation.
  • Exhibits teamwork and collaboration by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner and supporting the recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.
  • Participates in performance improvement initiatives, engaging all stakeholders and promoting safe, quality patient care through research and shared governance.
Professional Development and Initiative
  • Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments, mandatory education, and population-specific training.
  • Acts as a preceptor and mentor for other nursing professionals and students, fostering a qualified workforce and a healthy work environment.
Evidence-Based Practice and Research
  • Advocates for evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement. Engages in value analysis to evaluate patient care products.
  • Adheres to all healthcare system policies, procedures, and clinical competencies, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
  • Participates in data collection and formulates relevant clinical questions to advance evidence-based practice.
Resources and Support
  • Proactively plans for patient care across the continuum while providing direct patient care.
  • Contributes to the development of protocols and procedures in collaboration with care managers and healthcare team members to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Supports the efficient and effective use of human and material resources.
Required Minimum Education

Associate's Degree in Nursing or graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s)

All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated:
  • Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN - Multi-state Compact
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Instructor
Required Minimum Experience

A minimum of 2 years of direct patient care nursing experience is required.

Required Minimum Skills

Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language, with basic computer skills and the ability to utilize technology in clinical care. Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, along with excellent customer service abilities, are essential. The candidate must thrive in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies with composure and respect, demonstrating effective time management and critical thinking skills.
