Wellstar Health System is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for the Neuro Med/Surg department. This position is full-time and requires night shifts.

Position Summary

The RN Clinical Nurse plays a vital role within a collaborative team of healthcare professionals, both licensed and unlicensed, to deliver personalized, high-quality, and safe patient care. The clinical environment is overseen by Nurse Managers and supported by the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The practice framework is guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, which emphasizes evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are rooted in these models and are aligned with the Wellstar Values.

All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and adhere to the nursing practice standards as defined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, implementing the Scope of Practice and the Code of Ethics set forth by the American Nurses Association. As part of the patient services team, it is essential to uphold the voice of the patient while adhering to system policies and striving for service excellence.

  • Execute the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) in clinical care, utilizing evidence-based practices and critical thinking to ensure individualized care.
  • Deliver patient-centered care that respects diverse population characteristics (age, gender, disease, etc.) and adapts service delivery to acknowledge cultural diversity.
  • Engage with patients and their significant others in meaningful ways, such as bedside shift reports and interdisciplinary rounds, ensuring their goals are central to the care plan.
  • Adhere to current clinical practice standards.
Teamwork and Collaboration
  • Facilitate the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care, promoting a professional care delivery model through effective interdisciplinary communication.
  • Exhibit teamwork and collaboration by practicing fiscal responsibility and supporting the recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.
  • Engage in performance improvement initiatives, research, and support shared governance across all system levels.
Professional Development and Initiative
  • Complete all required professional competency assessments and ongoing education.
  • Act as a preceptor or mentor for other nursing professionals, fostering a qualified workforce and a healthy work environment.
Evidence-Based Practice and Research
  • Encourage evidence-based practice and nursing research, participating in value analysis for patient care product evaluation.
  • Comply with all healthcare system policies, procedures, and clinical competencies, ensuring adherence to legal and accreditation standards.
  • Participate in data collection and consult experts to address clinical practice questions.
Resources and Support
  • Proactively plan for patient care across the continuum while providing direct patient care.
  • Contribute to the development of protocols and procedures in collaboration with care managers and healthcare team members.
  • Support the efficient use of human and material resources.
Required Minimum Education

Associate's Degree in Nursing or graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s)

All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated:
  • Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN - Multi-state Compact
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Instructor
Required Minimum Experience

A minimum of 2 years of direct patient care nursing experience is required.

Required Minimum Skills

Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English, along with basic computer skills and the ability to utilize technology in clinical care. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills are essential, as well as the ability to function in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies with composure. Excellent time management and critical thinking skills are also required.
