Position Summary
The RN Clinical Nurse plays a vital role within a collaborative team of healthcare professionals, ensuring that patients and their families receive personalized, high-quality, and safe care. The clinical environment is overseen by Nurse Managers and other leaders, supported by the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. Our practice framework is guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, emphasizing evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are aligned with these models and are reinforced by the Wellstar Values.
All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and adhere to the standards of nursing practice as defined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, implementing the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics set forth by the American Nurses Association. As integral members of the patient services team, nurses are expected to advocate for patients, uphold system policies, and contribute to service excellence goals.

- Conducts the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) in clinical care, utilizing evidence-based practices and critical thinking to ensure individualized care and effective partnerships for optimal patient outcomes.
- Delivers patient-centered care that respects population-specific characteristics (e.g., age, gender, health conditions) and adapts service delivery to acknowledge cultural diversity.
- Engages with patients and their significant others, utilizing appropriate communication methods to ensure their involvement in care planning and updates.
- Adheres to current clinical practice standards.
- Facilitates the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care, promoting a professional care delivery model through diverse interdisciplinary communication methods and timely documentation.
- Exhibits teamwork and collaboration by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner and supporting the recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.
- Contributes to performance improvement initiatives, engaging all stakeholders and supporting research and evidence-based practices to enhance patient care quality.
- Completes all required initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and mandatory education.
- Acts as a preceptor and mentor for other nursing professionals and students, fostering a qualified workforce and a healthy work environment.
- Advocates for evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement. Participates in value analysis to inform decision-making regarding patient care products.
- Complies with all healthcare system policies, procedures, and clinical competencies, ensuring adherence to legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
- Engages in data collection and formulates relevant clinical questions to advance evidence-based practice.
- Proactively plans for patient care across the continuum while providing direct patient care.
- Contributes to the development of protocols and procedures in collaboration with care managers and other healthcare team members to achieve optimal practice outcomes.
- Supports the efficient and effective use of human and material resources.
Associate's Degree in Nursing or graduation from an accredited/approved nursing school is required.
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred.
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s)
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated:
- Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN - Multi-state Compact
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification - Instructor level
A minimum of 2 years of direct patient care nursing experience is required.
Required Minimum Skills
Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently, proficiently utilizing technology to support clinical care, and possessing basic computer skills. Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, along with customer service abilities, are essential. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies with decisiveness and respect is crucial. Excellent time management skills and the ability to practice nursing using evidence and analytical skills are necessary.
