Position Overview

Atlantic Health System is looking for a Part-Time Environmental Aide I to join the Environmental Services Department at Overlook Medical Center. The role requires availability for 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, including alternating weekends.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Employs suitable cleaning tools to maintain all nursing units, patient rooms, and other designated areas within the facility, which includes floors, woodwork, sills, vents, sinks, and furniture. Duties also involve emptying trash, performing high and low dusting, mopping floors, sanitizing furniture in patient rooms, cleaning commodes, and bathrooms, as well as disposing of debris and replacing soiled linens with fresh ones.
  • This position may also require working at the Union Campus.
  • Cleaning of bodily fluids is part of the responsibilities.
  • Reports maintenance issues as needed.
  • Stays informed about updates in environmental services by participating in monthly departmental meetings.
  • Handles moderately complex issues and escalates more intricate problems to senior staff.
  • Performs additional related tasks as assigned.
  • Restocks and cleans housekeeping carts at the end of each shift.
  • Adheres to departmental policies and procedures regarding cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing.
  • Removes all waste and linens from the hospital.
  • Follows precise instructions for preparing cleaning solutions and managing biohazard materials.
  • Responds to major spills and pages promptly when necessary.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent is required or must be obtained within two years of employment.
  • To ensure a safe environment for patients, candidates must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • A solid work history is essential.
  • Must meet fit testing requirements.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs is necessary.
Preferred Experience:
  • Previous housekeeping experience in a hospital or institutional setting is preferred.
  • Experience in floor care is also preferred.
