Position Summary
The Packaging Operations Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the sanitation and functionality of all packaging machinery to guarantee optimal quality and productivity. This position requires flexibility to work various shifts within a 24-hour operational framework.
Work Schedule
Our team operates on a 4x10 schedule, working four days a week with ten-hour shifts.
- 3rd Shift Hours: Monday - Thursday, 10 PM - 8:30 AM
Key Responsibilities
Supervise all packaging activities:
- Ensure consistent high quality of packaged products by evaluating operational performance and implementing improvements to processes, equipment, or work practices.
- Collaborate with the Packaging Manager to efficiently plan and execute packaging schedules.
- Maintain clean, sanitary, and safe packaging environments.
- Assist in the development and training of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and inventory management systems.
- Monitor and verify inventory levels of packaging and sanitation materials.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in packaging and sanitation operations through enhanced procedures and equipment upgrades.
- Identify and resolve maintenance issues promptly.
- Complete and submit all necessary reports accurately and on time.
Lead the Sanitation and Packaging Team:
- Support performance expectations and accountability within the team.
- Assist in conducting regular performance evaluations for team members.
- Work with the Packaging Manager to assess staffing requirements and fulfill those needs.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations for all team members.
- Contribute to the development and management of safety training and cross-training programs.
- Enhance team members' skills for greater responsibilities within the organization.
- Engage in daily discussions regarding safety-related topics.
- Investigate and report on safety incidents, following up with necessary action items.
- Participate in packaging improvement projects, including Lean Manufacturing and cleaning initiatives.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a high-speed manufacturing environment, particularly in beverage packaging, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Experience with filling processes is preferred. Forklift operation experience is required. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills are essential.
- Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Familiarity with Ignition software and AX is advantageous.
- Certifications: Lean/Six Sigma certification or relevant experience is preferred.
- Language Skills: Proficient in English, both written and verbal.
- Travel Requirements: Occasional travel may be necessary for training and evaluations.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual Salary Range: $72,000 - $77,000
