Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Henneman Engineering. As a key member of our MEP Design/Consulting group, you will be responsible for providing expert engineering services for a variety of projects, including process design, mechanical and plumbing systems, and HVAC systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform work as a mechanical engineer in all aspects of project development, including client coordination, pre-design services, final design services, meetings, site visits, and project management.
  • Conduct existing conditions surveys and prepare PFDs, P&IDs, layouts, sections, elevations, and details as appropriate to document relevant conditions.
  • Conceptualize the initial process, mechanical, and plumbing design approach for projects, having overall responsibility for the engineering and/or design work related to process, mechanical and plumbing systems, and code requirements.
  • Coordinate, design, and schedule with other disciplines, such as architectural, structural, electrical, and controls to resolve a variety of complex problems (i.e., conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, difficult coordination requirements).
  • Organize and prepare process, mechanical, and plumbing construction drawings (PFDs, P&IDs, layouts, sections, elevations, and details as appropriate), technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates.
  • Develop engineering solutions and designs, cost estimates, bill of materials, and schedules for projects.
  • Have knowledge of applicable codes and standards related to mechanical, piping, and plumbing systems.
  • Participate in contract bidding process, prepare and issue responses to contractor requests for information, and prepare and issue bulletin and change order documentation.
  • Provide field engineering and construction services, such as shop drawing review and on-site observation.

Requirements:

  • 4-Year Mechanical Engineering degree required. Being licensed as a Professional Engineer is preferred but not required.
  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on process design and consulting.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit is preferred.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards related to mechanical, piping, and plumbing systems.
