Position Overview

The physical therapist operates under the general oversight of the Director of Physical Therapy. This role entails taking responsibility for a specific patient group and delivering physical therapy assessments and interventions in line with established hospital and departmental protocols, as well as adhering to the professional scope of practice for physical therapists. The therapist provides care for individuals facing disorders, injuries, developmental delays, or other health alterations that necessitate skilled assessment and intervention to enhance functional independence. Consideration is given to the functional, psychological, medical, cultural, social, spiritual, and developmental needs of each patient, ensuring the highest standards of patient care are maintained. Furthermore, the physical therapist is accountable for the care provided to patients being treated by Physical Therapy Assistants and may be tasked with orienting new staff and students.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct thorough physical therapy evaluations to assess patient needs. Design and implement a comprehensive physical therapy program aimed at promoting independence and achieving optimal patient outcomes. Ensure accurate and timely documentation, billing, and insurance communication in accordance with departmental standards. Encourage leadership and educational growth by participating in departmental initiatives and performance improvement activities. Provide care in a manner that is customer-friendly and aligns with the department's mission, vision, and values.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree with no prior experience required; on-the-job training and pediatric clinical education experiences are provided. Valid Physical Therapist License in Missouri. Valid Physical Therapist License in Kansas. Must obtain a Licensed Physical Therapist credential in Kansas or an equivalent within 90 days of employment. Membership in the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) is preferred.

Compensation Details

Our compensation ranges are competitive within the market. The starting pay for this position begins at $36.64 per hour, with the final offer determined by your education and experience.

Work Environment

This position requires onsite work at one of our Children's Mercy locations and is not eligible for remote work.
