- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent research skills as measured by a record of extramural research funding.
- A sustained record of high-impact, peer-reviewed publications.
- Demonstrated skills in the mentorship of junior faculty related to grantsmanship and publications.
- An academic record that meets the criteria for tenure in the College of Public Health.
- Employment as a registered nurse in a healthcare service organization, government agency, professional organization, or academic setting.
- Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) participating state.
- Experience mentoring and/or teaching nursing students and other nurses.
- Postdoctoral training or academic teaching experience as an adjunct or full-time faculty.
- Experience writing academic research grant proposals.
- Expertise in acute care, medical/surgical, and psych/mental health nursing.
- Advanced Nursing Practice: Deep understanding of nursing theories, principles, and practices.
- Research Methods: Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies pertinent to the nursing field.
- Education Techniques: Familiarity with curriculum development, pedagogical theories, and teaching strategies specific to higher education and nursing education.
- Teaching: Ability to effectively impart knowledge, facilitate learning, and assess student performance in a variety of course formats.
- Research: Skills in designing, conducting, and analyzing research studies.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with students, colleagues, and the wider academic and healthcare communities.
- Leadership and Collaboration: Capacity to lead projects and work collaboratively with other faculty members.
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt teaching methods to different learning styles and environments.
- Critical Thinking: Capability to engage in reflective and analytical thinking.
- Problem Solving: Ability to address academic and administrative problems.
- Mentoring: Aptitude for guiding students and junior faculty members in their academic and professional development.
