We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Tenured Professor of Nursing to join our faculty at George Mason University's School of Nursing. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Excellent research skills as measured by a record of extramural research funding.
  • A sustained record of high-impact, peer-reviewed publications.
  • Demonstrated skills in the mentorship of junior faculty related to grantsmanship and publications.
  • An academic record that meets the criteria for tenure in the College of Public Health.
  • Employment as a registered nurse in a healthcare service organization, government agency, professional organization, or academic setting.
  • Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) participating state.
  • Experience mentoring and/or teaching nursing students and other nurses.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Postdoctoral training or academic teaching experience as an adjunct or full-time faculty.
  • Experience writing academic research grant proposals.
  • Expertise in acute care, medical/surgical, and psych/mental health nursing.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Advanced Nursing Practice: Deep understanding of nursing theories, principles, and practices.
  • Research Methods: Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies pertinent to the nursing field.
  • Education Techniques: Familiarity with curriculum development, pedagogical theories, and teaching strategies specific to higher education and nursing education.
  • Teaching: Ability to effectively impart knowledge, facilitate learning, and assess student performance in a variety of course formats.
  • Research: Skills in designing, conducting, and analyzing research studies.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with students, colleagues, and the wider academic and healthcare communities.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Capacity to lead projects and work collaboratively with other faculty members.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt teaching methods to different learning styles and environments.
  • Critical Thinking: Capability to engage in reflective and analytical thinking.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to address academic and administrative problems.
  • Mentoring: Aptitude for guiding students and junior faculty members in their academic and professional development.
