Job Summary:

As a Senior Registered Nurse, you will serve as a lead of the healthcare team, coordinating departmental operations to ensure quality patient care in a safe, healing environment that is patient and family centered. You will demonstrate responsibility and accountability for your own professional practice, possessing the necessary clinical skills to be an expert resource. You will be available and supportive to employees, understanding priorities and needs of the department, and serving as a staff role model for professional nursing practice.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership: Directs, reviews, assigns, and organizes the work of at least three employees, ensuring completion of patient care/department activities.
  • Nursing Process: Serves as a resource for clinical concerns, scope of practice, and operational concerns of providers and staff.
  • Documentation: Conducts audits and ensures that documentation reflects thorough assessments, incorporates physical and psychosocial findings, diagnostic tests, learning needs, barriers, multidisciplinary education plans, and age-appropriate care.
  • Clinical Outcomes: Participates/leads various aspects of department operations, including staff competencies, department committees, Unit-Based Teams (UBT), new projects, quality efforts, Clinical Strategic Goal (CSG) activities, and educational programs.
  • Workplace Safety: Adjusts/identifies staffing needs of the department, ensuring quality patient care, patient and staff safety, efficiency, productivity, and working conditions of providers and staff.
  • Patient Care Experience/Customer Service: Acts as a role model for staff by providing a patient care experience that exceeds member expectations, ensuring timely and appropriate management of patients, and coordinating smooth transitions for patients across the care continuum.
  • Team Commitment: Ensures support of the collaborative Labor-Management Partnership environment through unit-based teams (UBTs), identifies and supports staff professional/clinical development needs, and motivates staff to attain their fullest potential in improving performance, attendance, access, service, and quality outcomes.
  • Fiscal Responsibility: Participates in resource allocation, collaborating and assisting with the Department Physician in Charge (PIC) or Chief of Service, DA, ADAs, and Supervisors in staffing, workflow, and throughput to promote quality patient care, patient and staff safety, efficiency, productivity, and working conditions of providers and staff.
  • Message Management: Monitors in-basket management to ensure timely completion of messages, ensures use of nurse advice protocols for medical problems, same-day and symptom-based messages, and ensures patient call-back messages are responded to in a timely manner.
Requirements:
  • One (1) year recent (within the last three (3) years) full-time equivalent experience in L&D, antepartum testing, FCC/Post Partum, OB/GYN, or Women's Health in an acute or ambulatory setting with one (1) year recent (within the last three (3) years) full-time equivalent NST experience.
  • A limited 2nd and 3rd trimester OB ultrasound certification/training is required within the last five (5) years.
  • Registered Nurse License (California)
  • Basic Life Support
  • Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses Advanced Fetal Monitoring Certificate
