Job Overview

At Sletten Companies, we are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team. This role will be responsible for assisting the Project Manager and Superintendent in organizing, controlling, and monitoring activities related to commercial construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Perform engineering tasks requiring standard techniques and handle minor problems of a technical nature arising during construction.
  2. Maintain records regarding job progress, costs, material usage, etc.
  3. Assist in planning and scheduling of job.
  4. Review plans and specifications to determine material requirements and pricing.
  5. Work with suppliers to facilitate material handling and expediting delivery.
  6. Assist with estimating, including quantity takeoffs, site visits, and estimate reviews.
  7. Manage submittals, change orders, and RFIs.
  8. Submit permit applications and maintain accurate records.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need a four-year engineering degree or equivalent experience/knowledge of construction, design, and finance. You must also have a strong work ethic, ability to read and interpret construction drawings, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Skills

Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Word, P6 Scheduling, Power Point, Procore, and Bluebeam is highly desirable. Additionally, experience with contract and negotiating, letter writing, telephone skills, estimating and scheduling, budgeting and cost accounting, knowledge of safety, environmental, and EEO requirements, time management skills, file management, public speaking, and attention to detail are valuable assets.

Location

This position may be based in Great Falls, Missoula, or Billings, Montana.
