Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Regional Transit Service is seeking to fill a position for a Bus Cleaning Specialist. This role is essential for maintaining the cleanliness and operational readiness of transit vehicles. Responsibilities include thorough cleaning of both the interior and exterior of buses, refueling, and proper parking procedures. A valid Commercial Driver's License is mandatory for this role.

COMPENSATION: $16.97 per hour, full-time

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday, 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM. Union environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position involves physically demanding tasks utilizing both power and hand tools. Work is conducted outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Applicants should be capable of:

  • Working in diverse temperatures, from summer heat to winter cold.
  • Enduring a noisy work environment.
  • Hearing approaching vehicles, horns, and other verbal signals without direct line of sight.
  • Maintaining a high work pace.
  • Operating in low-light conditions.
  • Working in confined spaces.
  • Following instructions accurately.
  • Performing tasks in wet and slippery environments.
  • Standing for extended periods on hard and uneven surfaces.
  • Transitioning from standing to stooping frequently, including bending, squatting, crouching, and stretching.
  • Lifting weights up to 50 pounds.
  • Kneeling on flat, wet surfaces.
  • Moving quickly through buses over considerable distances.
  • Being reliable, punctual, and a cooperative team member.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possession of a valid Driver's License (must obtain a Class B permit with passenger endorsement before starting)
  • Maintaining a clean driving record

This position operates within a Union framework associated with the Amalgamated Transit Union, Local 282, offering a comprehensive benefits package.
