POSITION SUMMARY:

Joining RTS as a Transit Vehicle Cleaning Specialist presents an outstanding opportunity to embark on a career with one of the leading transit organizations in the country. Your role in maintaining the cleanliness of our fleet is vital to ensuring the health and safety of our passengers, while also enhancing their overall experience.

In addition to cleaning responsibilities, you will be tasked with refueling vehicles and monitoring fluid levels. A crucial part of your duties will also involve parking the buses appropriately on the RTS premises, ensuring they are ready for the next day's operations.

A Class B Commercial Driver's License with Air Brake and Passenger Endorsements is necessary for this role; however, RTS is committed to providing training and resources to help you secure this license. Please note, a Class B permit with passenger endorsement is required before commencing employment.

WORK SCHEDULE: Evening shifts, 5:30 PM to 2:00 AM. Days off may vary.

PAY RATE: $20.14 per hour

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

This position demands physical stamina and the use of both power and hand tools. Work will be conducted outdoors in various weather conditions. Candidates must demonstrate:

  • Proficiency in moving quickly through buses

Dependability, punctuality, honesty, and teamwork are essential attributes for this role.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid NY State Driver's License (must obtain Class B permit with necessary endorsements prior to start)
  • Clean driving record
  • Preference will be given to candidates who already hold a CDL Class B permit/license with passenger endorsement and no air brake restriction

This position is part of a union represented by the Amalgamated Transit Union, Local 282. Work assignments are determined by seniority, so specific work hours and days cannot be guaranteed.
