Career Opportunity: Lifecycle Management Strategist

The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled Lifecycle Management Strategist to join the Bureau of Wastewater Treatment (BWT). As a key member of the team, you will play a vital role in developing comprehensive, long-term master plans for wastewater facilities and processes, ensuring the highest standards of public health and environmental protection.

About Our Team

The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is the largest combined municipal water and wastewater utility in the country, serving over 8 million residents. Our team is dedicated to providing high-quality drinking water, managing wastewater and stormwater, and reducing pollution. As a Lifecycle Management Strategist, you will work closely with our experienced professionals to drive innovation and excellence in wastewater management.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement lifecycle management strategies for wastewater facilities and processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  2. Lead a team of professionals in the development of comprehensive, long-term master plans, focusing on rehabilitation, repairs, and replacement of wastewater infrastructure.
  3. Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to identify and prioritize capital projects, ensuring alignment with the agency's strategic goals.
  4. Analyze and develop business cases for planning, design, and construction contracts, ensuring optimal scope and balance of rehabilitation, repairs, and replacement.
  5. Develop and oversee the implementation of a Lifecycle Analysis Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), supporting the development of project business cases.
  6. Support the development of metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to lifecycle management, driving continuous improvement and process optimization.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a relevant field, such as environmental science, public health, or engineering.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative, or research capacity, with a focus on wastewater management or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with lifecycle management principles, wastewater treatment processes, and regulatory requirements.
