POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Development/Philanthropy, the Development & Events Coordinator is a proactive, detail-oriented, and organized individual. This position plays a crucial role within the fundraising team, collaborating closely to plan and execute strategic events and donor engagement initiatives aimed at expanding our supporter base. The Coordinator will assist in building, implementing, and monitoring progress on individual donor cultivation strategies and campaigns. Additionally, this role will involve designing and organizing events while ensuring meticulous attention to preparation details for upcoming activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Donor Engagement:
    • Assist in managing donor prospects, including research and identification;
    • Support the Development/Philanthropy team in planning, executing, and assessing annual giving campaigns;
    • Draft thank-you letters, coordinate follow-up calls, and ensure appropriate donor cultivation according to established strategies;
    • Provide exceptional customer service to donors across all levels;
    • Maintain various databases and filing systems;
    • Generate reports from CRM to gather insights on fundraising efforts;
    • Create donor materials, templates, donation pages, and other collateral;
    • Assist with special projects as needed.
  2. Event Management:
    • Plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate fundraising events;
    • Assess the effectiveness of event plans and implementation processes, seeking opportunities for improved efficiency and attendee experience;
    • Secure necessary permits and licenses according to timelines;
    • Negotiate venue contracts, manage logistics including lighting, sound, catering, and in-kind donations, ensuring vendor compliance with agreements;
    • Develop staffing plans for assigned events;
    • Oversee vendor management on the day of the event.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience in nonprofit development and/or event coordination, with a strong desire to enhance skills and advance in this field.
    • Additional experience may substitute for educational requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in development and events is preferred.
  • Experience with CRMs is advantageous, particularly familiarity with Altru.
  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
  • Additional Skills:
    • Experience with social media platforms, WordPress, MailChimp, and design software (Adobe Illustrator, Canva Pro, Photoshop, etc.).
