Enterprise Server Administrator (AIX/Linux)

At Employees Retirement System, we are seeking an experienced Enterprise Server Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our Information Systems Division, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise computing systems, including AIX and Linux platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, install, configure, administer, and support infrastructure systems, including IBM Power/PowerVM, HMC, VIO, and other related systems software.
  • Manage capacity, performance, reliability, security, usability, and disaster preparedness of platform systems.
  • Design, implement, administer, and support backup systems and applications, ensuring all server data is protected using standard agency practices and schedules.
  • Design, implement, administer, and support monitoring systems and applications, ensuring monitoring tools are configured to detect availability, capacity, and other issues.
  • Research, assess, evaluate, and recommend new, upgraded, and developing systems and technologies to determine suitability for current and future agency enterprise computing needs.
  • Provide recommendations and risk assessments of new features, capacity, and licensing requirements, high-availability, and integrations.
  • Develop and document best practices, operating procedures, and guidelines, and provide quality control through the application of standards and by ensuring that user requirements are met.
  • Actively collaborate with others and analyze and revise existing documents for currency, accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Participate in disaster recovery, including planning, documentation, backup management, and exercises to ensure preparedness to respond to disasters and other unplanned situations and events.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in data processing, computer science, management information systems, business, or a related field.
  • Six years of experience in an enterprise technology environment performing systems design, deployment, administration, support, and security of IBM Power and AIX systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in an enterprise technology environment performing systems design, deployment, administration, support, and security of Linux systems.
  • Experience managing and supporting enterprise infrastructure and systems, including server and storage equipment and technologies.
  • Prefer experience in an environment supporting Oracle applications and database servers.
  • IBM AIX Administration Power systems and/or IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert - Power Systems with AIX.
