Some of the day-to-day tasks will include support of server and cloud infrastructure, technical documentation, ticket queue management, and project collaboration.

As a member of our Server Administration Team, you will perform entry-level administrative support work, including performing a wide range of administrative and office support work for the department. Employees at this level perform assignments following specific instructions and are subject to frequent review by the immediate supervisor.

The essential duties of this position include:

  • Performing entry-level administrative or technical support work, including performing a wide range of administrative, technical, and/or office support work for the department.
  • Assisting with TxDOT Server Administration, including ticket queue management (incidents and changes).
  • Supporting Windows Server and/or Linux Server infrastructure.
  • Creating and/or updating technical documentation.
  • Assisting with software and hardware renewals.
  • Clearly and thoroughly documenting notes, steps, and server administration ticket updates.
  • Maintaining good collaborative relationships.

The minimum qualifications for this position include:

  • Must be a student in high school or other educational institution or accepted into a college, university, or educational institution.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age, a student currently enrolled in high school or any institution of higher education, including a trade/vocational school.
  • Employees at least 18 years of age with a valid driver's license may be assigned driving duties and may use power tools.

The preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Maintaining effective working relationships with others.
  • Using computers and applicable programs, applications, and systems.
  • Following verbal and written instructions.
  • Protecting sensitive and confidential information.
  • Collecting, sorting, and compiling data.

This position requires light work, including lifting up to 20 pounds at a time and frequently lifting or carrying objects up to 10 pounds. Sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time are also required, as well as repetitive motion and close visual acuity.
