Project Overview:
Port Arthur LNG, LLC is in the process of establishing a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production and export facility. This project encompasses the construction of two identical LNG trains, two LNG storage tanks, and an LNG carrier berth, along with necessary utilities and facilities.
Position Summary:
The Labor Relations Manager will oversee labor relations activities on the project, managing intricate employee relations inquiries and resolving conflicts, including work stoppages. This role involves interpreting contractual agreements, enforcing workplace regulations, and engaging in negotiations to foster positive labor relations, thereby minimizing disruptions that could affect project timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise a team of employee relations representatives, ensuring the effective implementation of the employee relations program at the construction site.
- Collaborate with the Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H) department to ensure compliance with health and safety protocols for craft personnel.
- Assess immediate and anticipated workforce needs, implementing corrective measures and process improvements as necessary.
- Conduct and guide employee relations investigations, ensuring thoroughness and compliance with company policies.
- Engage with the craft workforce, construction leadership, clients, and the public to maintain open lines of communication.
- Manage project-related industrial relations activities, including investigations, disciplinary actions, and data management.
- Facilitate training and coaching sessions, ensuring adherence to company policies and legal standards.
- Prepare various written communications related to project and industrial relations matters.
Education and Experience Requirements:
A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) is required, along with 8-10 years of relevant experience, or 12-14 years of applicable work experience.
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
- Proven experience in conducting detailed and complex investigations.
- Demonstrated leadership of small to medium-sized teams on construction projects.
- In-depth knowledge of labor laws and regulations affecting construction labor union employees.
- Ability to perform investigations related to employee misconduct and recommend appropriate disciplinary actions.
