The role of the Nursing Assistant and Activity Specialist is crucial in ensuring the efficient operation of the unit while providing essential therapeutic interventions. This position emphasizes collaboration and adherence to best practice guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and coordinate the activities outlined in the individual care plans.
- Execute all responsibilities associated with the nursing assistant role.
- Deliver direct patient care, focusing on behavioral symptom management and assisting patients in coping with various stresses.
- Support the care team in developing and updating care plans and discharge strategies.
- Encourage patient engagement in activities and accurately document their participation.
- Provide hands-on assistance and coaching to help patients with daily living activities.
- Ensure patient care is delivered in a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment.
- Assist team members in addressing the needs of patients.
- Contribute to performance improvement initiatives and enhance patient outcomes.
General Expectations:
- Work collaboratively with team members, fostering positive communication and demonstrating leadership.
- Understand the principles of growth and development relevant to the patient population.
- Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients.
- Commit to safety regulations and participate in problem-solving and quality improvement processes.

Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
Experience:
- A minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare setting is required.
Licenses:
- Basic Life Support certification is required upon hire.
- Certified Nurse Aide certification is preferred upon hire.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
- Able to observe patient behavior and document findings effectively.
- Teaching skills and a commitment to excellent customer service.
- Familiarity with therapeutic activities is preferred.
