Job Title: Family Store Cashier

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Family Store Cashier to join our team at The Salvation Army. As a Family Store Cashier, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, operating a cash register, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Greet customers and donors with a polite attitude, answering phone calls and assisting with unloading donations as needed.
  • Operate a cash register, counting your drawer before and after each shift and carrying it to the office for counting at the end of the day.
  • Keep the front register area clean and free of clutter, emptying the donation jar every Friday and entering cash donations into the register.
  • Ensure the quality of items on racks and shelves, reporting under/over pricing to the manager.
  • Supervise volunteers and community service workers, setting goals and delegating tasks.
  • Set up attractive window displays, make beds up nicely, and turn on lamps and TVs.
  • Report any incidents to your supervisor and be willing to have your day off changed as needed.
  • Attend all store employee meetings, including after-hour meetings and trainings.
  • Responsible for your own time card, clocking in and out on time.
  • Pricing under the direction of the Store manager or Assistant Store Manager.
Requirements:
  • High School graduate, some college preferred.
  • Good written and spoken English.
  • Competent in Word processing and Excel Spreadsheets.
  • Possess ability to develop and maintain a working relationship with coworkers.
  • Ability to complete paperwork accurately in a timely manner.
  • Be organized and detail-oriented.
  • Some Spanish helpful.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms on a continuous basis.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
