Job Summary

The City of Palo Alto is seeking a skilled High Voltage Electric Lineperson to join our team. As a key member of our Utilities Department, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing high-powered electrical lines and systems, as well as constructing, maintaining, and repairing overhead and underground electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Climbs power poles and steel towers to perform repairs and maintenance

• Works on energized lines, low voltage and high voltage, and constructs, maintains, and repairs overhead and underground electrical systems and equipment up to 60 KV

• Performs high voltage field switching, including working with energized high voltage equipment with approved hotline tools

• Performs rubber glove work on voltages up to and including 21,000 volts

• Drives and operates specialized vehicular equipment, and works on ladders and aerial lift buckets as needed

Requirements

• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade

• Completion of an apprenticeship as an electrical lineperson

• Certificate REQUIRED to be uploaded

• Possession of a valid California Driver's License or the ability to obtain a Class A Driver's License within the first six months of appointment
