Electrical Software Engineer, Low Voltage Systems

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our interdisciplinary electrical & software engineering team on the Low Voltage Software Team at Tesla.

Our team develops innovative hardware and software frameworks used for automated design validation of Tesla's vehicle and Optimus products. We collaborate closely with all design teams to ensure timely release of our testing & automation solutions.

Our team's products are used in both high-volume manufacturing and on a per-unit basis for failure analysis & reliability testing.

We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals and software tools including Python and Linux.

Responsibilities:

  • Design test racks & software for automated validation of vehicle & Optimus electronics
  • Interface with firmware teams to define how a test should be implemented and what features are needed to enable our automations
  • Understand and/or develop low-level IC drivers using protocols such as SPI, I2C, and LIN
  • Root cause problems between firmware, hardware, and custom test hardware
  • Understand IC electrical capabilities, fault behavior, and diagnostic features
  • Design custom electronics designed to be used as test equipment for Tesla products

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Software experience via medium to large projects or equivalent
  • Experience designing, prototyping, and debugging PCBs
  • Programming skills in Python, or Golang (or similar)
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals
  • Experience with low-voltage power distribution
  • Experience using or testing brushless motors
  • Understanding Variable Frequency Drives is a plus

Expected Compensation:

$92,000 - $186,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
