Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Special Education Resource Teacher to join our team at Mobile County Public School System.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and ensure compliance with state and federal laws and guidelines related to special education.
  • Attend eligibility and initial Individual Education Program (IEP) meetings as needed, providing guidance and support to school staff.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate records of special education students, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to procedures.
  • Collaborate with principals to monitor IEP implementation and track progress, ensuring timely completion of Data Verification forms.
  • Develop and implement Extended School Year (ESY) Services, including curriculum development, budgeting, and in-services.
  • Provide leadership and supervisory services to local schools, ensuring effective program implementation and monitoring.
  • Work closely with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition of exceptional students to regular classes.
  • Assist in the formulation of instructional objectives and preparation of curricular materials tailored to the needs of exceptional students.
  • Develop and disseminate resource units, teaching guides, and other materials to support program implementation.
  • Arrange transfers and transportation for exceptional students as needed.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Administration or Special Education from a regionally accredited College or University.
  • Valid Alabama Teaching Certificate in Special Education.
  • Five (5) years of successful teaching experience in Special Education.
