Job Description

Title: Mammography Technologist
Schedule: Per Diem

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:
  • Follow physicians' orders precisely and adhere to regulations concerning radiation exposure to ensure patient and staff safety.
  • Verify patient identification and route studies to PACS.
  • Maintain a daily log of patients seen.
  • Operate equipment to produce high-quality images.
  • Obtain essential information from patients, medical records, and previous scans for clinical correlation.
  • Prepare and assist patients for Mammographic imaging as requested by a physician.
  • Provide patient care with dignity and respect for the individual.
  • Educate patients about procedures to be performed.
  • Obtain optimum quality images through proper anatomical positioning and techniques.
  • Observe and follow safety procedures, including radiation protection and universal precautions.
  • Perform daily checks and weekly QA, completing all documentation.
  • Carry out quality control checks on equipment, reporting deficiencies to proper personnel.
  • Work independently and demonstrate flexibility in work assignments.
  • Demonstrate commitment to total quality management and service excellence.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in technology and safety protocols.
  • Process studies onto CD or film format for patient requests, maintaining HIPAA compliance.
  • Maintain equipment and working area cleanliness.
  • Maintain familiarity with emergency drugs and equipment locations.
  • Maintain knowledge of departmental systems, including booking, scheduling, duplication, and PACS.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through training and continuing education.
  • Develop expertise in human anatomy, cross-sectional anatomy, positioning skills, and protocol utilization.
  • Promote and follow WMG policies, rules, and regulations.
Required Qualifications:
  • New York State License and ARRT Certification with Mammography modality.
  • Maintain superior diagnostic imaging in accordance with standardized procedures.
  • Excellent patient and people skills.
  • Ability to maintain continuing education credits and professional licenses required by the New York State Department of Health and The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Pay Range:

$45/hr to $55/hr

The provided compensation range is based on industry standards and salary determinations will be made based on numerous factors, including years of experience and location of position.
