Position Overview:
The Quality Control Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring that all Meat, Seafood, and Fresh Produce distributed within our supply chain adhere to Meijer’s quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Buying Office to inspect incoming and outgoing loads at the distribution facility.
- Work alongside warehouse staff to manage product rotation and compile weekly reports and assessments.
- Train and mentor audit teams on the execution of inspection Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

What You'll Be Doing:
- Conduct training sessions for auditors on proper inspection techniques.
- Perform audits on inspection SOPs to ensure compliance.
- Review quality issues identified by auditors and make informed decisions regarding product acceptance based on USDA and Meijer standards.

- Inspect and assess all incoming produce, meat, and seafood shipments to ensure they meet quality specifications.
- Verify that fresh commodities comply with Meijer’s standards for quality and temperature control, as well as USDA requirements.

- Utilize product quality testing equipment to confirm that fresh products meet minimum government standards and Meijer specifications.
- Report findings to leadership and assist in implementing corrective actions as necessary.

Qualifications:
- An associate degree is preferred.
- HACCP and SafeMark Food Safety certifications are advantageous but not mandatory.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in produce, meat, or seafood quality assurance, or 3 years in a related quality assurance role.

- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Familiarity with USDA standards is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively, making decisions based on factual information.

- Self-motivated with the capacity to work in a dynamic environment.
- Capability to influence and train others to achieve desired outcomes.
