In 2006, ABT was officially recognized by Congress as "America's National Ballet Company." The Manager of Institutional Support collaborates closely with the Chief Advancement Officer and Senior Director of Development to generate $2-$3 million annually from private and corporate foundations, as well as government entities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead grant writing efforts for all funding proposals and reports.
  • Manage and nurture a portfolio of private and corporate foundation and government funders.
  • Support major capital grant requests and their reporting obligations.
  • Compose persuasive letters of inquiry, grant proposals, interim reports, and final reports for institutional funders, while juggling tight deadlines and multiple priorities.
  • Oversee the acknowledgment process for institutional funders, including drafting letters for senior leadership.
  • Track and ensure fulfillment of institutional donor benefits and proper crediting.
  • Maintain Institutional Donor listings for various communications and on ABT's website.
  • Engage institutional funders by inviting them to events and keeping them informed about relevant ABT activities.

Regular collaboration with ABT's finance, education, artistic, and administrative departments, as well as the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School, is essential to gather materials and data for proposals, reports, and letters.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Develop program/project budgets in partnership with Finance, Education, Artistic, and Operations Teams.
  • Represent ABT at institutional donor events and meetings.
  • Maintain an organized digital library of grant agreements, meeting notes, acknowledgments, award letters, and other critical correspondence.
  • Ensure institutional database records are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Act as a strategic partner to the Senior Director of Development in creating initiatives to retain current funders and cultivate a strong prospect pipeline.
  • Research and identify new sources of institutional support and present findings as appropriate.
  • Prepare draft communications and presentations for senior leadership as needed.
  • Supervise the Institutional Support intern.
  • Participate actively in department-wide activities, including cultivation and fundraising events.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3-4 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and development; at least 1-2 years of grant writing experience is required.
  • Knowledge of general fundraising principles, including solicitation of corporate, foundation, and government grants.
  • Familiarity with institutional prospect research tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines and multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to ABT's mission.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Experience with Raiser's Edge is highly desirable.
