Job Overview

Salary: Up to $20 per hour

Qualifications:

  • Completion of two years of college or high school diploma; Valid DE Teaching Certificate is preferred.
  • Preferred training as a Paraeducator.
  • Certification in CPR/First Aid.
  • Proven ability to foster and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders, including administrators, colleagues, students, and parents.
  • Current background checks including police, child abuse, FBI, and Act 24.

Reporting Structure:

  • Special Education Teacher
  • Special Education Supervisor
  • Special Education Behaviorist

Core Responsibilities:

As a Special Education Paraeducator, you will be instrumental in assisting certified educators and supporting students with special needs. Your key responsibilities will include:

Specific Duties:

  • Assist in executing lesson plans, providing reinforcement, instruction, and tutoring while documenting student progress throughout the school day.
  • Monitor and redirect student behavior during classroom activities, special classes, transitions, and field trips, adhering to school and program protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and behavior for school programs and external agencies as required.
  • Support the teacher with assessments, record-keeping, and monitoring student progress.
  • Communicate with parents and staff regarding student progress under the teacher's guidance and participate in interdisciplinary meetings as necessary.
  • Adapt to additional needs that may arise based on individual student cases.
  • Provide a nurturing and inclusive environment for all students, consistently enforcing school policies to ensure the health and safety of all.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized learning environment.
  • Uphold a professional, confidential, and ethical relationship with colleagues, students, and parents at all times.
  • Engage in all faculty meetings, in-service sessions, and other required meetings.
  • Stay updated on educational developments, including PDE regulations and state/national standards, through ongoing professional development.
  • Perform related duties and special assignments as needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule: 8-hour shift, Monday to Friday

Work Location: In-person

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience Requirements:

  • Special education: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)
