Job Overview

Salary: Up to $20 per hour

Qualifications:

  • Completion of two years of college or high school diploma; Valid DE Teaching Certificate is preferred.
  • Preferred training as a Paraeducator.
  • Certification in CPR/First Aid.
  • Ability to foster and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders, including administrators, colleagues, students, and parents.
  • Current background checks including police, child abuse, FBI, and Act 24.

  • Special Education Supervisor
  • Special Education Behaviorist

Key Responsibilities:

As a Paraprofessional in the Special Education sector, you will be instrumental in assisting certified educators and supporting students with special needs. Your key responsibilities will include:

Specific Duties:

  • Support the implementation of lesson plans, providing reinforcement, instruction, and documenting student progress throughout the day.
  • Monitor and guide the behavior of assigned students during classroom activities, transitions, and field trips, adhering to school protocols.
  • Maintain detailed records of student progress and behavior for school programs and external agencies as required.
  • Assist the teacher with assessments, record-keeping, and monitoring progress for assigned students.
  • Communicate with parents and staff regarding student progress under the teacher's guidance and participate in necessary meetings.
  • Adapt to additional needs that may arise based on individual student cases.
  • Create a nurturing and inclusive environment for all students, consistently enforcing school policies to ensure safety and well-being.
  • Keep a safe, clean, and organized learning space.
  • Maintain a professional, confidential, and ethical relationship with colleagues, students, and parents.
  • Participate actively in faculty meetings, in-service sessions, and other required gatherings.
  • Stay updated on educational developments, including regulations and standards, through ongoing professional development.
  • Carry out related duties, special assignments, and projects as directed.

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule: 8-hour shift, Monday to Friday

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience Requirements:

  • Special education: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)
