Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Program Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Human Resources department, you will provide critical support to staff and management in various areas of HR, including timekeeping, employee relations, recruitment, benefits, and payroll.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct HR program support to staff, including timekeeping, employee relations, recruitment, benefits, and payroll.
  • Oversee and administer Short Term Disability program and monitor each case, ensuring compliance with Family Leave Medical Act (FMLA) and Parental Leave regulations.
  • Assist in all facets of semi-monthly payroll, create DOC-3's, and send packets to the payroll office.
  • Create employment packets for new hires and interview packets.
  • Develop and maintain automated and manual filing systems, ensuring accurate and efficient record-keeping.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, employees, and other individuals to answer questions, disseminate information, and provide courteous service.
  • Prioritize work, meet deadlines, and complete tasks in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of office practices, procedures, and equipment.
  • Working knowledge of manual and automated filing systems, Standard English grammar, punctuation, and usage.
  • Demonstrated skill in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Ability to interpret and follow oral and written rules and regulations, maintain harmonious working and public relations, and learn new practices and procedures.
  • Considerable recent experience providing customer service and administrative support in a professional office setting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in providing customer service and administrative support in a professional office setting.
  • Recent experience using office equipment, including computers, printers, copiers, and fax machines.
  • Background in record-keeping and experience using CORIS.
  • Some experience in Human Resources, particularly in a correctional and/or alternative setting.
