Position Overview

The Kentucky Personnel Cabinet is seeking a dedicated Pretrial Services Specialist to join our esteemed Administrative Office of the Courts. This role is pivotal in ensuring that defendants are treated fairly and justly within the judicial system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct interviews with defendants within 24 hours of their incarceration.
  • Perform necessary assessments to evaluate defendants' situations.
  • Provide recommendations to trial courts regarding pretrial release options.
  • Supervise compliance for clients released under specific conditions or those referred to diversion programs.
  • Prepare and submit comprehensive reports to relevant authorities.
  • Maintain accurate statistics for monthly reporting purposes.
  • Facilitate access to community resources for diversion and conditional release.
  • Represent the department in court as required.
  • Prepare affidavits of indigence for judicial review.
  • Input data into the designated systems.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor's Degree is required.

Experience: A minimum of one year of relevant experience is necessary. Consideration will be given to candidates with an Associate's Degree and two years of related experience or a High School Diploma with four years of relevant experience.

Special Requirements: Candidates must successfully pass an FBI clearance to obtain NCIC certification and be able to work within detention facilities. Maintaining NCIC certification is essential.

Work Environment

This position typically operates in an office setting within a detention center, focusing on the supervision and case management of adult criminal defendants and offenders. Some travel may be required.
