Objective:

The primary function of the Academic Support Specialist is to assist, motivate, and guide students towards the successful completion of their educational programs. This role serves as a vital resource for students who require additional support in navigating their academic journey, overcoming challenges, and achieving graduation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver positive encouragement, nurturing, and academic guidance to enhance student satisfaction and retention rates.
  • Address student inquiries through various communication channels, including phone, SMS, email, and live chat.
  • Achieve or surpass weekly outreach goals to foster relationships with assigned students.
  • Utilize professional expertise to build rapport and assist students in overcoming barriers to their educational objectives.
  • Track weekly attendance and academic performance, providing support to students at risk of falling behind.
  • Evaluate Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) for assigned students, assist with appeals, and develop improvement plans.
  • Facilitate documentation for students needing temporary breaks from their studies due to personal or professional reasons.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty to support students requiring course extensions or additional academic resources.
  • Engage with various departments to resolve student-related inquiries, ensuring a seamless experience.
  • Manage the procurement and distribution of certification exam resources, tracking outcomes to encourage student success.
  • Conduct introductory calls for new student cohorts and coordinate orientation sessions to prepare them for their academic journey.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of school events, including workshops and graduation ceremonies.
  • Ensure compliance with all institutional policies and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of student interactions within internal systems.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
  • At least one year of experience in an academic advising role within higher education is preferred.
  • Strong commitment to delivering exceptional service to students, with the ability to manage challenging situations with professionalism.
  • Proficient in managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Self-driven with a strong work ethic and dedication to quality outcomes.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Exemplary ethical standards and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated capacity for independent judgment and problem-solving.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Willingness to work outside of standard hours as necessary.

Work Schedule:

This role requires periodic onsite presence as needed, with specific arrangements communicated in advance.
